Frame Park in Waukesha Wisconsin - Something for Everyone!
Looking for a fun place to take your family? Why not go to Frame Park in Waukesha,Wisconsin? Located along the beautiful banks of the Fox River, everyone from young to old will find an activity they enjoy.
Frame Park is open year round and you'll always find someone walking, running, rollerblading, or biking along the trails. On hot summer days, you can dangle your feet into Hobo Springs or play a game of volleyball. There's a large shelter for group gatherings and even a few festivals throughout the year. Come and enjoy Frame Park!
Paddle Boats Anyone?
Or canoes or kayaks! Fun!
There's a little shop in the center of the riverwalk called High Rollers Fun Rentals that offers paddle boats for rental. You can relax and enjoy the views from right out on the river. The boats come in all shapes and sizes. Most of the paddle boats fit at least 4 people but some even hold a few more. They have a beautiful pink flamingo, an elegant swan and a big green dragon that make paddling even more fun! There's plenty of ducks out on the river so be sure to bring them a treat and they'll come right up to your boat!
They also offer canoes and kayaks for rental. I love these boats! Early spring is the best time to go before all the seaweed fills the river. I usually spend at least an hour traveling down the river. Great family fun at a reasonable price!!
For Those Who Prefer Biking
They also offer a wide assortment of bikes for rental. You can find any size or shape of bike imaginable from a family bike all the way down to a tiny trike for a toddler. They have it all! There's plenty of bike paths all around Frame Park where you can enjoy riding these fun and unique bikes. There's even one that holds up to ten people.
My favorite is the tandem bike. It's so much fun going there with a kid or friend and taking that big long bike down the trail. It's funny because the person in back doesn't really have any control over the bike so you really have to trust the person you're riding with!
Foldable Tandem Bike
I was quite surprised at how fun riding a tandem bike was. I was a little nervous though when my young passenger wanted to switch with me. The person in front is the only one who has brakes so if we needed to stop, I wasn't able to do it. The person in front is also the one doing the steering. Riding a tandem bike is a great thing to do if you're trying to improve teamwork.
The Formal Gardens - Hot Spot for Wedding Pictures
Spectacular Formal Gardens
The gardens at Frame Park are beautiful. There's many different types of flowers but I think the most spectacular ones are the roses. There's thousands of roses in all different colors - yellow, red, pink, orange, white with pink around the edges, and I think there's some yellow ones with red around the edges. They are absolutely gorgeous. There's also a trellis walkway made of stone that fills in with all different green plants throughout the summer. You feel like you are in some magical faraway place when you walk through.
This is the place to go in Waukesha for wedding pictures. I've also seen people taking senior high school pictures, First Communion pictures and even birthday pictures! If you are planning a big day and want to take your pictures there, you can reserve the area and they will block it off for you. It's definitely worth the small fee if you want some great pictures.
Water Ski Shows during the Summer
Badgerland Water Ski Team
The Badgerland Water Ski Team is awesome to watch during the summer! They put on a really great show every Wednesday night. It's free to watch but since they are a non profit group, they like donations and i gladly give them. It's definitely worth it for what you get to see. They need to maintain their equipment and buy gas to get their equipment to the river. They also have to pay someone to clear the weeds out of the river so they can get around. Since the Fox River is so shallow, there's lots of seaweed. They spend a lot of time practicing and they even come to most of the local parades. It's a great group and a good reason to take the time to visit Frame Park.

A Great Place for The Kids
Time to Play!
Your child's eyes will light up when they see this park! There's a huge playground where kids can run freely for hours doing the things that kids do best - playing! There's plenty of park benches for parents to sit and relax. There's an area for bigger kids, a smaller area for the little ones, a sandbox and swings. All brightly colored for everyone to enjoy!
Hobo Springs
Tons of History at Hobo Spring
Hobo Spring is a historical marker in Waukesha. It's a place that is rich in history. Waukesha had over 50 natural springs that used to bring people from all over the world. The Soo Line train tracks run near the park and hobos that would travel on the trains would get out in Waukesha and visit this very spring to get a nice cold drink and wash up a little bit, even cool off when it was really hot outside. For years, it was used as a wading pool for kids but was filled in to make it easier to maintain. In 1997, it was restored to it's original condition.
Picnic Gear
If you're planning on a picnic, there's plenty of picnic gear available for you to bring along. I think the most important thing to have on a hot summer day is a nice big cooler! Nothing beats a cold lemonade with your grilled burgers and brats. Having one with wheels makes them even more convenient because then you can stack everything on top of it for easy hauling. I love picnics!
