Waukesha Wisconsin
Another Beautiful Day in Waukesha, WI
Welcome to Waukesha, Wisconsin! It's a great city and I hope you enjoy it here! First of all, you pronounce it like Wau-ka-shaw. We're located about 20 minutes west of Milwaukee. Close enough to Lake Michigan that we can visit anytime. Interstate 94 gets you there in 15 minutes flat!
The schools are great. We have lots of elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, and 3 colleges. Once you're done with school, you can find a job right in town or head into Milwaukee. If you're like me and like to stay close to home, we have plenty of employers in the area.
There's tons of shopping centers too. Almost every corner of the city has their own. With hundreds of stores in town, you can almost always find what you're looking for without traveling very far. In recent years, the downtown area has been fixed up quite a bit and a unique shopping experience is always right around the corner.
Come see what this great city has to offer!
Super Fox!
The Newest Shopping Center
This Super Fox was put in our newest shopping center. He guards over the Target store that anchors this area. Target was the first store that went in followed by many more such as Ulta, Hobby Lobby, Famous Footwear, Maurice's, Petco, Pick 'n Save, The Dollar Store, Subway, Verizon, and a few others. This shopping area is only around 2 years old but it's so nice that it feels like it's been there forever.
Restaurants - My Favorites
Great Food
I love Noodles. My favorite dish there is the Pasta Fresca with Parmesan Crusted Chicken. After a long day of riding my horse, nothing could be better. Except maybe some Jimmy's Grotto. Located in the older part of the city, Jimmy's Grotto makes the best ponzarottas in the world. They are like deep fried pizza pockets and people come from all over to enjoy one. You can have them with any of the normal pizza toppings or you can try one of the specialty ponzas like a taco one. They are so big and filling that if you're not very hungry, splitting one works fine.
Another favorite of mine is The Neighbors. Only open a few years now, they are a family friendly sports bar/restaurant. The food is wonderful but the atmosphere is a bit too loud for me inside. They did finally add a deck so you can enjoy the food without all the noise. For awhile now, you couldn't even talk to the person across the table from you. I think the deck is a great addition!
We do have all of the regular franchises such as Chili's, Applebee's, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Buffalo Wild Wings so you'll never go hungry in this town!!
Panera's
A Warm Dining Experience
What city would be complete without a Panera's? I went there and had a delicious lunch, French onion soup with a baguette and chocolate brownie. Yummy! On nice days, I like to sit outside and enjoy my food under the warm sun.
Hiking, Biking, and Riding Trails - Miles and miles and miles...
Enjoy the Trails
Waukesha boasts some of the finest trails for hiking, biking, walking, rollerblading, and horseback riding. The beginning of the Drumlin Glacial Trail starts in Waukesha and goes all the way to Madison, our capital. By car, it's about an hour drive so that's one long trail!! I know many people who make a weekend out of it and bike to Madison, stay overnight in a hotel, and then ride back the next day. The first part of the trail is paved and the rest is gravel. There's a lot of professional bikers who come to Waukesha specifically to train. We see lots of the bright sponsor shirts each day.
If hiking is more your thing, every county park has beautifully groomed trails. They spend a lot of time and resources keeping these trails pristine. The terrain on the trails change so that you can choose which is best for you. There's trails made of grass, some covered in bark, and some are dirt trails. They also have markings and maps that show the distance of each trail. They are all clearly marked so that you can easily find your way back to where you started.
Two of the county parks have horseback riding trails that are also very well kept up. There used to be a third park but an endangered plant was found on the trails so they no longer allow horses there. Update: I think the third park is again offering horseback riding trails.
Need a New Bike?
If you're going to visit Waukesha, you should definitely bring your bike! The trails are phenomenal!
The Fox River
The Fox River flows through the entire city. This part of the river is in a quieter area but the largest part of the river flows right through downtown. On any day, you will find hundreds of people enjoying the banks. People like to fish and rent paddle boats or ride their banks along the trails. There's a beautiful garden area, a playground, and a large baseball diamond where many spent their summer nights.
The Parks - Every Neighborhood Has One
Every Neighborhood has a Park
There are parks everywhere in this beautiful city. Not a single small park to be found. They are all decent size parks and highly equipped with playground equipment. It was all state of the art when it was put in but will probably have to be replaced in the coming years. Each year, the city makes sure to go to each park and do any needed maintenance on it. City workers are assigned to parks where they will empty the garbages and clean the bathrooms. These parks are so nice that any trip to the park is a wonderful family outing.

Water Ski Shows In the Summer
Lots of History in Waukesha
Waukesha is rich in history. You can find lots of memorabilia for sale. In the early 1900s, Waukesha had many springs that were thought to possess great powers. People would travel from all over the world to visit the springs in hopes of curing their diseases.
Chuck E. Cheese - Fun Stuff
Kid Friendly Places!
Since this is Wisconsin, it gets cold in the winter so we need to have some warm indoor stuff to do too. Chuck E. Cheese is great! I love going there and spending a few hours playing games. They have great food too. The pizza is decent and they even have a salad bar with lots on it! They make great subs which I don't think many people know about.
The games are replaced fairly often. Recently they tried to go with a card system instead of coins but since everyone missed the coins, they went back to them. They really listen to their customers and we always have a good time every time we go.

Waukesha has a lot of professionals working here such as doctors, lawyers, directors, you name it, we have it. With such a large professional population, some of the houses here are huge in the surrounding areas.
Some Small Houses
The city area has a lot of smaller houses like most other larger cities. The smaller the houses, the more people could live close to downtown. While the downtown area isn't very big, there's still plenty of these smaller houses surrounding it. They are affordable and the neighborhoods are all very nice.
Thanks for visiting!!
This special fox says thanks for stopping by!! Hope you enjoyed your visit of Waukesha!
