10 Things To Do In Wisconsin Dells in the Winter

Updated on March 8, 2015

Visit Wisconsin Dells for Some Winter Fun

Wisconsin Dells is a great vacation hot spot all year round. In the summer time, Wisconsin Dells boasts itself as the Waterpark Capital of the World but wintertime is just as fun! The outdoor water parks are all closed of course but step inside for some hot summer time fun! Indoor roller coasters, arcades, waterslides galore, miniature golf, go-karts, and pottery awaits you!

Much To Offer in the Winter Time

If you thought that Wisconsin Dells would be boring in the winter, think again! Sitting in a beach chair by a wave pool makes you completely forget that the temperatures outside are frigid! Climbing high above the arcades on a rope course will make you forget the stress of every day life. Those two things combined = a great vacation!

Water Parks

There's various water parks around the Dells. You can find a water park for every age. Some resorts are designed mostly for families with small children while others have multiple parks for families with kids of all ages.

Don't Forget Your Goggles!

Everyone in my family loves wearing goggles while they're in the water, especially if they wear contacts.

A good pair of goggles makes the waterparks more enjoyable if you hate getting water in your eyes. Googles are prohibited on some of the faster waterslides but for the basics they work great.

Ripley's Believe It or Not

Believe it or not...

I was surprised by how much was in this place. It doesn't look very big from the outside but you can easily spend a couple hours looking through everything they have on display. It's all very unique items with great stories behind everything. I was more impressed with this attraction that I thought I was going to be. The layout is very creative and entertaining. We had a fun time here.

Covered Wagon Rides

The Horses are Beautiful

All year around, if you are lucky enough to be in the Dells on the weekend, you can go on a covered wagon ride pulled by two beautiful draft horses. The trails go into the woods for a beautiful ride through nature. We saw deer and other animals while on the trail.

Wizard Quest

Wizard Quest is a fun place to take the kids. It will provide your entire family with hours of activity. You go on a magical quest of water, fire, earth, and wind. You find fairies, pixies, trolls, secret stairways, wizards, and much more! Way better than sitting in front of TV all afternoon.

Go Karts!

Love the Go Karts! Various places offer indoor go karts. The track at this place is really small but it was still enough fun that we went on it over and over.

New Go-Carts at the Wilderness Resort

Find Your Own Go Cart!

Go Carts are lots of fun no matter where you are. It doesn't matter if it's a big track or a little track, it's the twists and turns that are fun! If you can't make it to a resort, get your own and drive it around your yard.

If you can't make it to the Dells, buy your own go cart and zip around in your back yard or homemade track.

Arcades Everywhere

The Arcades

All of the water park resorts feature multiple arcades. After hours and hours of water, it's nice to have some water-free activities. There's also stand alone arcades so you'll always find your favorite game.

Indoor Rides

Along with indoor roller coasters, you can also find spinning tea cups, bumper cars, and the Scooby Doo van ride. As the water parks get bigger, so do the indoor amusement parks. Giant pillow tops to jump on and a spinning Hurricane are a few more. Race cars and motorcycles that move along with the game add a lot of excitement.

Can't Get Enough of the Indoor Water Parks!

The real highlight are the water parks. The kids can play for hours on end and then afterwards they sleep really well. Just a reminder that a few hours of the water parks might leave you feeling a little water logged!

Paint Your Own Pottery

Another activity that takes hours to finish - paint your own pottery. This is one of our favorite places to visit. All of the kids can pick their own piece of pottery and paint it however they want. This resort has overnight glazing so you can pick it up the next day!

Magiquest

Magiquest is another family fun activity center where you go on an adventure filled with wizards, dragons, and other unearthly creatures.
